Sept. 21, 2022: Buffer Maintenance Workshop
Wednesday, September 215:00 – 7:00pm
Earlysville, Virginia
Join James River Association staff on the evening of September 21st from 5-7pm in Earlysville, VA for an introduction on how to perform early stages of riparian buffer maintenance. This session is ideal for anyone who has recently had a buffer installed, or is curious as to what efforts are required to ensure the highest chance of a quality buffer. This is a free event. All materials and dinner will be provided. Please wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. More details to follow. Registration is limited to 20 people. Each attendee must fill out the form.
Oct 1, 2022: Buffer Maintenance Workshop - Invasive Species

Afton, Virginia
 

Please join Blue Ridge PRISM and the James River Association on Saturday, October 1st 2022 from 9 am – 1pm in Afton, Virginia for “Planning for Success!”: Managing Invasive Plants in Riparian Buffers. This workshop will prepare landowners to develop an invasive species management plan for their riparian buffers. This is a free workshop. Lunch will be provided. Please be prepared to work with plants outdoors and wear weather appropriate clothing. More details will be provided closer to the workshop date. Registration is limited to 20 people. Each attendee must fill out this form.

Oct 20, 2022: Consortium Buffer Summit at Wildrock
Thursday, October 209:00am – 12:00pm

Please join us for the fourth annual Buffer Summit and Celebration hosted by the Upper & Middle James Riparian Consortium! The Buffer Summit will be held in person on Thursday, October 20th, 2022 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (with a virtual back-up), lunch at 12 pm, an outdoor Buffer Celebration from 12:30 – 3:30 pm, and a gathering/ lounge hour with food and music from 3:30 – 5:00 pm.

Location: Wildrock – 6600 Blackwells Hollow Rd, Crozet, VA 22932. Wildrock is located in the Blue Ridge foothills in Albemarle County (please note cell coverage is usually not available at Wildrock) — follow signs for parking. We have an exciting line-up of speakers and networking sessions to engage with other Consortium members and partners working in the watershed. The Buffer Summit will inspire new connections and opportunities around buffer creation and workforce development, and celebrate the benefits of buffers. Keynote speakers and panels will take place in the morning, outdoor streamside walks and hands on learning opportunities in the afternoon, followed by food and music by Holy River. Bring a rain coat, and start your navigation as you leave. The site is accessible for anyone with mobility challenges.
