May 5th Schedule
10am -12pm: Field Tour for JRBP Landowners
Led by Tamara Wamsley, Highland and Anne Marie Roberts, James River Association & James River Buffer Program
11:45 – 12:30pm: Lunch
12:30 – 2:30pm: Consortium Meeting
- Welcome and introductions
- Buffer Success and Long-Term Stewardship with Jordan Bennett and Anne Marie Roberts, James River Association
- Rivanna River Forest Health & Resilience Project with Lisa Wittenborn and Bailey Pleasant, Rivanna Conservation Alliance and Jessie Wingo, Albemarle County Parks and Recreation
- Small group discussion time
2:30 – 4:00pm: Field Activities at James Monroe’s Highland
Option 1: Riparian Forest Buffer Tour – Join the James River Association, Highland Staff, and the Rivanna Conservation Alliance on a tour of the onsite buffer project and a visit to the Tree Library.
Option 2: Riparian and Regenerative Land Management at UVA’s Morven Sustainability Lab – Hear from Rebecca L. Deeds, Program Director at UVA’s Morven Sustainability Lab, about Morven’s rotational grazing program, regenerative land management plans, and live stake collaboration with the Consortium.
