Register for the September 1st Consortium Meeting in Highland County

The Highland Center 61 Highland Center Drive, Monterey, VA 24465
Today, the Highland Center houses numerous tenants to include a mix of individual artists, non-profit organizations, and the county’s Visitor Center. It operates programs around four main areas: Business Incubation, Youth Development, Community & Economic Development, and Local Food & Agriculture. The Center’s reach has expanded beyond Highland County to benefit the entire Allegheny Highlands region, including Bath County, Virginia, and Pocahontas and Pendleton Counties in West Virginia. 12:30 – 2:30 pm: Consortium Meeting
- Welcome and introductions
- Learning about Buffer projects in Highland County with Alston Horn, Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Sammy Vest, Trout Unlimited
- Virginia Highlands Partnership and Land Protection with Tyler Fisk, The Nature Conservancy
- Discussion Time
2:30 – 4:00 pm: Connect, gather, and learn with fellow Consortium members (choose between options below)
- Site visit to nearby buffer
- Buffers and Birds with Caty McVicker, Wildlife Biologist with Quail Forever and Moriah Owen, NRCS

Let us know on the registration form if you are interested in a field visit tour with Trout Unlimited in Highland County the following morning (9:30am – no later than noon) of September 2nd to see some of their stream projects.
If there are at least a few folks, we’ll make it happen and be in touch with details!
