Sept. 17 Consortium Meeting on the Cowpasture River

Camp Mont Shenandoah is a rustic gem on the beautiful Cowpasture River in Bath County. It’s a perfect place to meet with colleagues, share information and inspiration, and reinvigorate our efforts to restore Virginia’s riparian areas. It’s also perfect for some paddling fun after the meeting! See agenda and map below.

September 17th Schedule

9:30am -11:30am: Come early and explore the Camp Mont Shenandoah on your own. (Consortium Steering Committee Meeting from 10:00-11:30am)

12:00 – 12:30pm: Lunch

12:30 – 2:30pm: General Consortium Meeting

  • Welcome and introductions
  • Camps along the Cowpasture and Camp Mont Shenandoah
  • Riparian Restoration in the Cowpasture River Watershed with Mike Hayslett of Virginia Vernal Pools, LLC
  • Voles and Small Mammals in Riparian Buffers with Angela Larsen-Gray of National Council for Air and Stream Improvement (NCASI)
  • Discussion time

2:30 – 4:00pm: Connect, gather, and learn with fellow Consortium members

  • Gather with partners along the Cowpasture
  • Optional canoeing along the Cowpasture
  • Wetlands with Mike Hayslett — “Making Wetlands Work for Watersheds” (indoor) followed by “Wetlands Plant ID wade along the Cowpasture” (outdoor)
  • Partner Roundtable with the Cowpasture River Preservation Association and others
