Buffer Maintenance Workshop

On October 20th, members of the Targeting and Outreach team held a Buffer Maintenance Workshop in the Middle James. Landowners in the James River Buffer Program learned how to treat invasive species and how to perform tree shelter maintenance. This workshop helped landowners who are phasing out of the program and current participants to continue keeping their buffers healthy and thriving!

There will be a second buffer maintenance workshop for the Upper James in Lexington on Monday, November 13th from 9:30am – 12:00pm. This is a free workshop. Coffee and breakfast will be provided. Please be prepared to work with plants outdoors and wear weather appropriate clothing. Registration is limited to 30 people, so sign up fast! You can contact Casey Johnson with any questions.
